The Giver: Blog Post 1

Prompt: Do you think twelve-year olds are ready to choose their careers? In what ways are twelve-year-olds in our society tracked into their future careers? What Life Assignment would you like if you had to choose right now? Why?
_________________________________________________________________________________

Careers usually start after/ during college, but sometimes if your good enough, you can get a career fast and easy. If you do decide to go to college and your grades get kept at a good level, then you 'll have a better chance of getting a better career. However, trying to choose what you want when your at a young age like 12, then its probably not going to be that career move. In the book, " The Giver "
when the children are 12 years old they have to go to what is called, "The Ceremony of 12"
and the children that were 11 turn 12 all at the same time. They what is called an Assignment, a fancy way of saying getting a job, and they have to work with that their whole life until the get released, get kicked out of the town, by the Elders. I don't think that 12 year-olds should be giving/chosen an occupation at that age. This book is almost the same the same as how the 12-year-olds in our society track down their future because we choose our occupations.

Let's say that you went to college to get a degree for being a Lawyer. Getting a degree on that specific occupation can really help you get a better chance of getting a better spot in that field. The Life Assignment that I would choose is a Police Officer. I chose this Assignment because I want to help protect against crime and help protect people. Therefore, I think you should be a certain age to get your occupation. And twelve is NOT the age. =)

The Perfect Vacation!!

A vacation is somewhere you go when you want to get away from all the stress. The bungalow you see on the left is called Matemo Island Resort. The other island is called Hamilton Island Resort. Both of these look like wonderful places, but the place that I would love to go on a vacation to is Virginia Beach. A picture of it is below and it it one of the many beautiful beaches. Virginia Beach. Where have you've gone on vacations? Did you like where you went? My first vacation I've ever been on was to Seaside Heights, New Jersey in the summer of 1999. I was born 1998, so I was only 2. That is one of my top 5 beaches that I like to go to. Beaches are fun, in the summer, in the winter, in the fall, and the water is just starting to get to the right temperature for swimming in the Spring, depending on where the beaches are.

As you can see, vacations are really fun to go on. They make you loose all of the stress and make you relax. Whenever I go to the beach, I always wait until everyones sleeping, and at like 12:00 midnight, I sneak onto the beach and just listen to the waves and let the sand run through my fingers. Then at the crack of dawn I would go back get dressed and watch the sun rise. Then I would go back to the house so I won't get in trouble. The beach could be a magical place, weddings, birthdays, or even love-at-first-site. The beach is for sure one of the best places there can be. I hope you have a place that makes you feel good and if you don't you need to find one. Everyone has one!!!

Who Do You Think Should Be On A Postage Stamp?

In my opinion, Britney Spears deserves undivided attention, which she already has. Britney's career took off between 1997-1999 when she released her debut album " Baby One More Time ". Spears wanted to become a pop icon, as she is now, throughout her childhood. Her life wasn't easy growing up, but she new that she would get somewhere someday. Britney Spears is influential because she is determined and was able to get her life back on track, she's a role model, and she shows her feelings in her songs.
Britney is very talented and everyone likes her just for that, but I never noticed her until I heard what was going on in her life. After she shaved her head, that kind of made her life flip around from the point she stood at. Then after that story got warn-out, then she got her kids taken away because of disorderly conduct. She was broken without her kids, it did take long for her to get them back, but she did. At that time, she was scared her career was at an end, so she made a song, " Piece of me ", to express how she felt about that has happened.
Her actions may not be smart, but her herself is. When Britney got her kids back, she wasn't going to let that end her career or their relationship. While juggling 3 kids and a job she was really stressed out. She tried to find another man and she found Justin Timberlake. They were together for a short period of time and then they broke it off. Then she got with her backup dancer Kevin Federline, then they got married. It made her life easier, a lot easier. She never wanted any of this to happen, but it did and she can't do anything about it.
Piece Of Me, a song that she wrote to express her feelings in song about the paparazzi making up lies about her. Circus, another song that she wrote, but it was about how talented she really is and not just being forced to do things she doesn't want to do. Womanizer, was about her husband cheating on her while she had the kids. Her songs sometimes speak to you, sometimes you can relate to them, or maybe your even living them. Some of her songs are just her having fun and some of them are her speaking her feelings, like I'm Not a Girl, Not yet A Women. Its about the paparazzi asking her questions about her life when she was only 19.
Britney Spears is influential because she is determined and was able to get her life back on track, she's a role model, and she shows her feelings in her songs. I wanted to kind of prove that Britney isn't such a bad person, and that she was able to get her life back on track with just herself. She was able to use one of the most powerful things, her music, to tell people how she felt. Britney Spears will forever be a role model to me because of her strength and determination.

The Battle of Bunker Hill

The Battle of Bunker Hill was legendary because of how massive the war really was. Following the battles at Lexington and Concord, the British returned to a much safer place of Boston. The commander was General Thomas Gage. The word of the bloody encounters in Massachusetts was received with astonishment in England.
There were three Alien Laws, laws for foreigners. Those laws helped lift the waiting period of naturalization form 5 to 14 years. The battle was caused by Native American Indians sneaking on a British boat and dumping all of their tea into the harbor. The Battle Of Bunker Hill was a intense battle that will be a part of American history forever.

Facebook

Facebook is a social networking website that is operated and privately owned by Facebook. Facebook is a website that can help you connect with people in your life. It was created by a Harvard student, Mark Zukerberg. Facebook was originally called "thefacebook", but now its obviously called "Facebook..." In a few weeks, Facebook became a nation-wide college interaction website.
One popular feature is you can upload and share photos by emailing, or plugging your phone in, to get the picture to go on the computer. If someone tells you about Facebook and they use the abbreviation, " FB, " then it means....... Face=F and Book=B. Facebook has an up-side and a down-side, but you'll find that out.......I'm sure!
